The RIA-Novosti news agency quotes a Russian intelligence source as saying the anti-Gaddafi coalition may invade Libya on the ground before mid-May, if the air campaign fails to oust Gaddafi from power.
This forecast coincides with reports that the United States is deploying 4 thousand extra marines to the Mediterranean area.
Over the past 24 hours or so, the coalition has fired 16 Tomahawk cruise missiles and directed 4 smart bombs at military targets of the Gaddafi regime.
